Templates and Prompts

I settled on Action points from reading "Teaching in the Online Classroom" and although it looks like this might well be obsolete soon I thought I'd share.
I will be considering how I can incorporate this into my F2F teaching too, I'd like to keep using ClassNotebook as a permanent fixture.
My Action Points were:
Routinely share success with classes using start up screen to "Shout Out"
Create a set of icons for visual prompts on OneNote Page (for me and the students)
Create script for me to use along side icons
Pick the activities/webpages etc. I am going to use and stick to them
Start CONSISTENLY using a lesson template on my OneNote pages
Settle on a Consistent Do now entry activity
Icons

Creating the Icons got me to really think about the activities I wanted/needed to keep, I whittled it down to 16.
Not all icons/activities will be used with every class.
I used the Noun Project for the icons.
If you want to use them yourself I have them in both white background and transparent background (if like me you want the background colour to show through!)

In addition to selecting the icon I wrote myself a little script to go with it.
Whether I'll manage to always use it is another matter!
But the same instruction will be written down each time.
Next stage will be to think about which of these translate into F2F and what I need to add to them.
Template

When I was designing the template I wanted to keep the structure as similar to F2F as possible.
Since September I've been using Work books and a typical skill looks like this.
Followed by some independent practice.
In the classroom I often get through multiple building block skills in one lesson. Online I felt that one a lesson was more likely
I started with a shout out section where I'm trying to showcase or call out a good piece of work from the previous lesson.
The "Do Now" I'm simply putting a screen shot from Maths Bot. I have been experimenting with some more tailored activities, but decided to remember perfect is the enemy of good and maybe they should be a project for next year.
Three Types of teacher expositions, I delete as appropriate.
If I write out an example I've started sending an screenshot of it in chat so it can be copied in.
Pace for an example to work on together, again I delete the questioning method as appropriate.
and a space for answering the clarification questions about the topic
switch over to Dr. Frost whiteboards so all students can try independently, at this point I send them off to do the main task when I see they are able to answer the questions and catch any misconceptions
Six different ways of doing the main practice task with space to reflect at the end.
When I was designing this I did a lot of flicking between my Phone, OneNote10, OneNote16 and the Web app, trying to make sure it was useable
I have the OneNote page here if you want it.
So far students have responded well (although its only been two days) and I found that having the structure in place really reduced my planning and marking time.
I'll continue to reflect and think about what I want to bring back into the building.
